Master Merlkir, may I please ask if you have ever taken an interest in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros? (I admit that I love your work on Middle-Earth so much that I'd love to see your talents turned to THE WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE, so I wonder if you'd be interested in devoting your talents to that sort of thing if commissioned to do so).

By the way, please keep these magnificent works coming!:) (Smile)

I've read the books when they first came out and I somehow stuck with the show, but I'm not a big fan or anything. The setting itself isn't very interesting to me.

May I please ask why the setting does not hold your interest? (I admit that I'm a history buff and rather addicted to the whole Knights-and-Castles milieu, which probably explains my continuing fascination with the setting).

I admit that the WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE probably isn't for readers who aren't eager to enjoy all the fun of reading The Appendices to LORD OF THE RINGS while remaining in Westeros, but even if you don't buy the book I would suggest giving it a look should you have a friend who owns one.Nod

Wait what? I read all the books. I just don't find the setting interesting in any way, it's quite uninspired and generic and the series stands on its characters rather than world building.

I do agree that the great strength of Mr GRR Martin's novels DOES tend to be character work, but I would like to admit that I disagree with you concerning his world-building - Westeros has fascinated me from the first!Nod

By the way, please accept my apologies if I have offended you at all; I was not intending to suggest that you did not know what you were talking about at all - I was merely trying to point out that if you don't particularly enjoy the Seven Kingdoms as a setting you might wish to borrow a friends copy of THE WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE before you brought a copy of your own, rather than buy a book you were not certain to enjoy.

One again please accept my apologies for any offence which I may have given you, this was not intentional.

No worries, I wasn't sure what you meant.
That book might be nice, I think Ted Nasmith has quite a few pieces in it. Ah well, Westeros is just not my cup of tea.

To each their own and may they each enjoy themselves in equal measure, Master Merlkir!Nod

(I fear though that if I ever strike it rich, you shall be very near the top of my list of artists to commission and sheer mischievousness would compel me to ask you to draw up plates for each of the Seven Kingdoms as excellent as your work for other settings).:D (Big Grin)
